EAI Simulation Associates, Inc. (EAI-SAI) provides sales, support, service and manufacturing of Parallel Real-Time High Fidelity Simulation Computer Systems.

EAI-SAI also offers complete Engineering Design and Development Services provided by a team of hardware and software engineers, each with over 20 years experience in their field. Backed by an extensive range of hardware (Real-Time systems, UNIX based Workstations, Windows PCs) and software tools, EAI-SAI can tackle a wide variety of challenging projects.

EAI-SAI has a joint marketing, distribution, and maintenance agreement with Halifax Corporation for new all-digital simulation products, including the Advanced Real-Time Simulation (ARTS) System and the STARLIGHT Accelerator. The two companies also jointly provide software and hardware maintenance support for computer systems and networks. Manufacturing services are provided through agreement with Tanon Manufacturing, a subsidiary of EA Industries.

Examples of designs recently performed in conjunction with Halifax Corporation for the US Army Missile Command as part of a real-time parallel processor Hardware-In-the-Loop simulation system:

• High Performance 400 MBits/sec Data Communications Link: Using Gallium Arsenide Transmitter/Receiver circuits implemented on a 6U VME mother/daughter board set. The set (one 6 layer and one 8 layer board) occupies a single slot and provides one transmitter, three receivers, and four Dual Port RAMs with simultaneous interface to both VME and VSB busses for high-speed serial point-to-point inter-processor communication between up to 16 VME nodes.
• Analog IO Board: Provides high speed AD and DA conversion for eight channels in each direction. A converter per channel architecture provides simultaneous conversion of all channels in 6 microseconds. Careful planning of analog and digital signals and grounds was required to reduce ground offsets and noise to levels consistent with the 16 bit converters employed. A combination of thru-hole and surface mount technologies provides optimum component selection required to maintain high accuracies.
• Real Time Linkage Controller: Combines a Motorola 68030 microprocessor and two Motorola 96002 DSPs to provide format conversion and scaling of analog data in a real time Hardware-In-the-Loop parallel processing environment. Implemented on a 9U VME size (6 layers) board with both surface mount and Pin Grid Array components.
